Automotive Painter

Tesla is seeking a skilled Automotive Painter to join our Collision Repair Program and work on some of the most progressive vehicles in the world. As a Tesla Automotive Painter, you will be part of a cutting-edge team, supporting our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. This role offers the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility, using advanced tools and technology to deliver high-quality finishes that meet Tesla’s exacting standards. What You’ll Do: Perform high-quality spray applications of primers, sealers, basecoats, and clearcoats. Spray approximately 6 fully prepped repair orders per day, including a variety of tasks such as fascias, multi-panel jobs, and smaller panel jobs in state-of-the-art downdraft spray booths. Collaborate closely with prep staff and other painters to meet work demands efficiently and as part of a team. Achieve invisible basecoat color blending and apply 2 and 3-stage colors. Produce sprayed finishes with minimal dirt, consistent gloss, and texture that matches the OEM finish, eliminating the need for sanding and buffing. What You’ll Bring: A minimum of 5 years of experience refinishing cars in an automotive collision repair environment, utilizing urethane-based refinish systems. Willingness to work overtime if required. Ability to train and mentor others. Capable of reading and comprehending automotive repair procedures. Certificate from a vocational school in Collision Repair is preferred. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Must be at least 18 years of age. Compensation and Benefits: Competitive hourly pay ranging from $30.50 to $72.00, based on experience and position level. Expected Compensation: Service Center Paint Sprayer I: $30.50 - $34.00/hour Service Center Paint Sprayer II: $31.45 - $42.55/hour Service Center Paint Sprayer III: $33.60 - $50.40/hour Service Center Paint Sprayer IV: $40.00 - $60.00/hour Lead Service Center Paint Sprayer: $48.00 - $72.00/hour Additional compensation may include cash and stock awards, depending on the position offered.
