Manual Machinist

Toolmaker / Manual Machinist Automotive restoration shop with a focus on the mechanical restoration of high-end European automobiles is seeking a talented and experienced Toolmaker or highly skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. Ideal candidate would possess the following skills or experience: • Minimum five years manual machining experience. • Proficiency with manual machining operations including milling, turning, and grinding. • Ability to setup difficult to fixture parts. • Proficiency with inspection and measurement processes. • Knowledge of basic metallurgy and metal treatment processes. • Cleanliness and extreme attention to detail is required. • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Additional beneficial skills include: • Experience with automotive engine machining operations. • Experience with the balancing of engine components. • Experience with automotive mechanical systems. • Welding, fabrication experience. Job responsibilities include: • Performing machining operations to support the restoration process. This includes repair and re-machining of original parts as well as the replication of original parts. • The set-up and operation all machine tools in a tool room environment including conventional mills, lathes, surface grinders, and saws. • Collaborate with team to develop repair solutions to support the restoration process. • Make sketches, drawings, or documentation required to reproduce parts. • Written and photographic documentation of work performed. • Basic machine maintenance. • Ordering and maintaining tooling and related supplies.
