About Ragtops & Roadsters

Ragtops & Roadsters restores, maintains and sells antique and classic cars from two buildings in southeastern Pennsylvania. The Perkasie location at 203 South 4th Street is a garage of about 6,000 square feet used as a showroom and service shop, while restoration work happens in a 26,000-square-foot former silk mill in Pottstown. Michael Engard started the business in 1990 in a Perkasie alley, working on British sports cars. He added the Pottstown shop when he bought Pollock Auto Restoration in 2008, and in 2021 he sold the operation to a group of enthusiast investors. The work runs from pre-war American antiques to post-war British and European classics, and the company also handles consignment sales and electric vehicle conversions. Paint and upholstery stay in-house. The Pottstown floor is divided into mechanical, fabrication, paint and body, trim and upholstery, and finishing areas, backed by a wood shop, machine shop and welding shop. The careers page invites mechanical technicians, body and paint technicians, fabricators, and trim and upholstery technicians to apply by email, and says the company wants people with a craftsman's mindset and patience for fine detail. The fabricators make replacement parts up to complete bodies using traditional coachbuilding methods. Painters use Glasurit 22 for single-stage finishes and R-M Diamont for base and clear.
